For 100 years before Prohibition, beer was a major export and Cincinnati breweries were a top employer. The Queen City had previously emerged as the center of U.S. pork production, but beer eventually took the lead in driving the local economy. By 1890, Cincinnati was the nation's third-largest beer producer!

We recently had the pleasure of a visit to the Moerlein Lager House in downtown Cincinnati. The Moerlein Lager House is situated on a scenic bank along the Ohio River between the Great American Ball Park and Paul Brown Stadium. This spacious restaurant features great views of the Ohio River, sports stadiums, the Roebling Suspension Bridge and downtown Cincinnati. It’s a great view from any seat in the house!

Since its 2012 inception, the Jazz Night Series at Washington Platform Saloon & Restaurant in downtown Cincinnati has been a must-do for music lovers of all ages, offering a unique live experience unlike any other in the Queen City. I recently attended the Friday night show with my husband, enjoying a delicious Valentine's Day dinner package and romantic date night against a colorful backdrop of authentic live jazz, performed by guitarist Greg Shako and flutist Sandy Suskind.
