Modeled after the legendary 400+ year old Hofbräuhaus in Munich, Germany, Hofbräuhaus Newport gives guests the chance to experience a wide variety of authentic German food, bier and time-honored cultural traditions.

Situated right across the Ohio River from downtown Cincinnati in the bustling Newport on the Levee area of Northern Kentucky, this is also the first authentic Hofbräuhaus to be built in the United States, featuring traditionally-decorated rooms and bier brewed on site using original recipes handed down by the Duke of Bavaria more than 400 years ago.

During my recent visit, everything was FANTASTIC - the wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the food was absolutely incredible! For the appetizer, I enjoyed a soft pretzel with bier cheese, which was the best I've ever had. For the entrée, I selected the wurst sampler with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes, with a flight of biers to wash it all down. Insider Tip: Don't skip dessert! I had the cream puff and it was divine.

This popular dining destination also features a sprawling bier garden and dining hall, providing a fun Oktoberfest atmosphere all year long, making it a popular choice for locals and out-of-towners alike who want to experience some of Cincinnati's strong German heritage. The original Hofbräu Brewery was built in Germany during 1589 and emerged as a popular attraction for tourists after WWII, but it wasn't until 2003 when Hofbräuhaus Newport first opened that this delicious German bier finally came to the U.S.

Classic Bavarian Brews

Often called the "Craft Bier of Bavarian Kings," all of the brews at Hofbräuhaus Newport have one-of-a-kind flavor in the Munich tradition, which is easy on the palate, always tasty and quite refreshing. Today, a Brew Master oversees the brewing of all four year-round beer varieties at the Hofbräuhaus, as well as seasonal specialties like Oktoberfest, Maibock, Pilsner and Hefe Weizen Dunke.

The biers are brewed on site under license and supervision of Staatliches Hofbräuhaus in München, Germany. The process is strict and judged according to the German Purity Law "Reinheitsgebot," which uses only hops, malt and water. And if you decide to take some Hofbräu bier home to enjoy later, no problem! There are always Growlers available, and now there are also Crowlers, which are 32-oz cans that can be filled and sealed on the spot to keep the beer fresher longer.

Beer of the Month

There is also seasonal craft beer unveiled each month during a much-anticipated keg tapping ceremony. Märzen is the special brew for the month of March, because it symbolizes the coming of Spring. An amber-colored bier with a rich malty character, Märzen is 5.8% Alc. By Volume and has a hint of hops with a smooth overall profile that is very drinkable.

Hofbräuhaus Newport Menu

The menu at Hofbräuhaus Newport includes a wide variety of delicious German food, but there are also standard American favorites to satisfy any palate. All of the Würste (sausages) are made locally by Wassler Meats, and there are always a variety of fun dining specials to enjoy throughout the year.
